It’s been an exciting week at Glorious! As we launched the world’s most customizable keyboard, the GMMK 3, the community has been buzzing with some pretty epic designs. That electric energy didn’t stop at your builds—we couldn’t resist diving into the fun ourselves. Our team members rolled up their sleeves, opened up Boardsmith, and got to work on creating their own dream boards. After all, we want to be part of the action, too!
Each Glorious staff member put their personal spin on the GMMK 3, resulting in a wild variety of custom keyboards that reflect their personalities, favorite games, and nostalgia-filled memories. But the fun didn’t end there. We decided to turn it into a friendly competition and voted on our favorite designs, showcasing just how versatile and unique the GMMK 3 can be when creativity takes the wheel.
Here’s a look at the fun stories behind our team’s custom builds, each with its own distinct flair.
1. Space Jam – Staff Favorite Winner 🏆
My build is an ode to my childhood—it’s a little bit retro and a whole lot of fun. I tried to channel the endless hours I spent playing Super Smash Brothers and Roller Coaster Tycoon, jamming to the Spice Girls, and collecting Pokémon cards and Beanie Babies.
— Sara, Creative Director
2. The Fearne Calloway – Runner Up 🥈
This build was inspired by my favorite Critical Role character, Fearne Calloway. From her size & colors–pink, green, purple– to the shiny gold bobbles and silent switches inside (a nod to her curious collections and knack for sleight of hand) this board channels all things whimsy and mischief.
— Tay, Senior Designer
3. Dreamy Pink – Second Runner Up 🥉
This gave big unicorn vibes, and I love unicorn vibes :) 🦄
— Jules, Brand Activation Specialist
4. Come to Candy Mountain, Charlie
I’m a 90s kid, *cough* millennial *cough*. So I tried to create one to cater to my sense of humour. I’ve had bright RGB lighting described to me as “unicorn puke” so I instantly thought of Charlie the Unicorn, and well, here we are, pink frames, Polychroma shine through keycaps and our Nebula cable. This is literally my inner teenager in keyboard form. Liopleurodon Charlieeeeeeeeeeee.
— Hal, Director of Communications & Product Marketing
4. Voltage Soldier
This build gives you the best of both worlds. The visual of an exofrost transparent case and our new limited edition GPBT Voltage Keycaps. Being able to see the inside of my keyboard that is powering my gaming experience is something you don’t really get to ever see. The word soldier came from Call of Duty, as I definitely see myself playing that with this keyboard to take advantage of that new Hall Effect technology.
— Matt, Social Media Specialist
5. Exo Atomic Purple
Growing up, I’ve had a love for transparent cases and the atomic purple is a great way to reminisce about the Game Boy days. The Matte White aluminum case finishes off the quality feel of the keyboard, adding to the sturdiness of the board I decided to go with a brass switch plate, I also just love the sound with brass switch plates. I chose Lynx silent HE switches for that linear SMOOTH feel and silent sound, matching them with the Atomic keycaps to keep with the purple theme.
— Vince, Brand Content Creator
6. Please bring back green apple skittles flavor
Green and transparent- kind of like a skittle and the shell. The name is because the green apple skittle flavor is better than the lime and deserves a return. The seething lime lovers must learn to cope with change. I also really love silent linear switches! They’re a really fun typing feel and paired with an FR4 plate make for a fun time. It’d be a great catch-all keyboard for gaming, typing, and chatting without getting picked up on a mic. 🙂
— Brooke, Retail Designer
7. Black Pink
Black and pink is one of my favourite colour combinations. High contrast, striking, but still balanced.
— Nick, Lead UI/UX Designer
8. Black Violet
I absolutely love everything purple. I have purple accent pillows, purple curtains, and why not mix a little black and purple together for a keyboard build? I also really like the 90s aesthetic of the transparent products, so this was the best of both worlds. It reminded me a lot of the early transparent purple Game Boys.
— Charles, Creative Producer
9. Happy Place
The wilderness is my happy place. My design is a subtle nod to nature, which keeps me grounded even when I’m stuck indoors. The deep blue bottom case reminds me of lakes I've discovered on backpacking trips, and the green gradient keycaps create a little forest underneath my fingertips.
— Morgan, Senior Manager, Marketing Operations
10. Gold Leaf
I'm indecisive. One day, I’m all about bold colors in my setup like bright red, but then I go back to playing it safe with black or white. That was until I saw our new green cases—neutral enough to blend perfectly with my setup, but with just the right amount of unique flair (especially those gold accents)!
— Zach, Product Launch Manager
11. Song of Ice and Lime
My keyboard is inspired by the vivid worlds of science fiction, and high fantasy that I love to experience when I game. Each keycap features intricate symbols or futuristic glyphs, reminding me of spells cast in distant lands or commands given on starships. The backlighting refracting through the polycarbonate top case feels like the glow of enchanted orbs or alien tech, perfectly capturing the magic and technology that define my gaming adventures.
— Craig, Art Director & Studio Manager
