April is keeping up the trend, shaping up to be another fantastic month full of exciting titles - from remasters of classic games to fresh entries across a variety of genres.

But enough talk, let’s get right into it!

The Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered

First on our list is an iconic fan favorite.

The Last of Us: Part II is making its return with a remastered version of the 2020 game, offering significant visual and technological improvements over its predecessor. Notable improvements include enhanced graphics with 4K support, as well as upgraded textures, shadows, and animations, with players also benefiting from faster loading times.

In addition to the technical upgrades, The Last of Us: Part II Remastered will introduce several exciting new game modes. One of the standout features is No Return, a roguelike survival mode that offers randomized encounters and introduces new playable characters with unique abilities. The remaster also includes Lost Levels, a look at three unfinished sequences from the game's early development, complete with developer commentary.

The Last of Us: Part II Remastered will be available to play on April 3rd.

The Talos Principle: Reawakened

Now, doing a complete 180 in game genres, let’s dive into the world of puzzles.

The Talos Principle, originally released in 2014, is a narrative-driven puzzle game that explores deep philosophical themes, set in a world that blends ancient ruins with futuristic technology to create a unique environment.

As players progress, they’ll face increasingly complex puzzles, interacting with various elements of the world, and unlocking new areas and abilities as they progress.

The Talos Principle: Reawakened is a remastered version of the original entry, offering both the original content along with new features that build on the success of the original experience. This version includes the Road to Gehenna expansion, a fresh chapter packed with new content, and a community level editor, allowing players to create and share their own puzzles.

The Talos Principle: Reawakened is set to release on April 10.

Lost Records: Bloom and Rage Tape 2

If you’re a fan of games like Life is Strange and its unique narrative-driven style, you’ll want to check out this next pick.

Lost Records: Bloom and Rage is a two-part adventure game that explores the lives of four teenage girls during the summer of 1995. The story dives into their personal journeys of self-discovery, highlighting the unbreakable bonds they form, as the group unites to confront past secrets that caused them to part ways.

The unique game design ensures that the player’s connection to the story remains unique, through decision-making and dialogue options. The protagonist’s camcorder also plays as a central mechanic, allowing players to record various moments and giving players the chance to shape their own version of the story.

The first part of Lost Records: Bloom and Rage was released on February 18 of this year, with the second part scheduled to be released on April 15.

South of Midnight

Now, let’s dive into the action universe of South of Midnight.

Set in a fictionalized version of the American Deep South, the game follows the story of Hazel, a young woman who learns how to harness ancient weaving powers. After a devastating hurricane strikes her hometown, she must navigate new challenges and uncover hidden truths.

In South of Midnight, players control the protagonist as she uses her weaving abilities for combat, puzzle-solving, and traversal. The gameplay is inspired by Southern folklore, blending dark modern folktales with character-driven storytelling. The game also features stop-motion animation for its cutscenes, and a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack influenced by the American South.

South of Midnight is coming on April 8.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Last but not least, we have a treat for turn-based strategy fans.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a real-time mechanics RPG set in a Belle Époque-inspired world. Players take on the role of Gustave, leading Expedition 33 on a desperate mission to destroy the Paintress, a mysterious being capable of painting death itself. As players race against time, they’ll uncover the fate of previous expeditions while exploring a world filled with wonders and dangerous foes.

Combat is an evolution of traditional JRPG mechanics, blending turn-based strategy with real-time actions. The system also incorporates rhythm-based attacks, adding an extra layer of complexity and excitement. This blend of tactical strategy and fast-paced action creates a dynamic and engaging combat experience that’s definitely worth checking out.
